Moscow, December 24 (RHC)-- Russian fighter jets have destroyed a convoy of Daesh tanker trucks in Syria as part of Moscow's efforts to stem the terrorist group's illegal oil sales.

According to the footage released by the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday, the column of fuel tankers was destroyed in the northern city of Aleppo. The ministry also announced that the Russian air force has targeted 1,093 Takfiri terrorist positions with 302 sorties in various locations in Syria since last week.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov noted that during the attacks, a terrorist training camp housing "a large group of experienced instructors" was destroyed in the northwestern Idlib province. He added that Russian Su-34 jets also destroyed two oil storage facilities and multiple fuel pumps in Deir Ezzor province in eastern Syria.

"Russia's Su-24 bomber conducted airstrikes against a concentration of Daesh military equipment in Homs province," he said, adding that six off-road vehicles carrying heavy machine guns and three trucks were destroyed in the attack.

Russia began its military campaign against terrorists operating in Syria upon a request from the Damascus government on September 30th. Since then it has conducted at least 5,000 sorties against the Takfiri threat.
