London, December 30 (RHC)-- Some parts of the UK particularly those areas hit hard by the recent severe flooding are threatened by a fresh storm named Frank. The storm is expected to hit the areas from Tuesday with Cumbria and south and central Scotland at most risk.
Media reports say there are already nine severe floods warnings in England and Wales. This comes as pressure is mounting on the government for mishandling of the crisis. Residents of the affected areas -- particularly in the North -- where the residents say the region has been overlooked in favor of London and the affluent regions surrounding the capital.
This is while Prime Minister David Cameron says the resources of the state have been equally distributed among all regions. "We spend more per head of the population on flood defenses in the north than we do in the south," he said, vowing that expenditures would increase in the face of the increasing frequency of extreme weather events in Britain.
The flood waters have eased in many areas but disaster could hit again when more rain falls on Wednesday. The ground is heavily saturated, making the region vulnerable to fresh precipitation.
