Guatemala City, January 29 (RHC)-- Guatemala will host the 4th Special Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) on Preventing and Combating Corruption, the country's Foreign Ministry has announced.
The source said that the meeting will be held in January 2017, as agreed upon by regional heads of state and/or governments at the recently concluded 4th CELAC Summit.
The foreign ministry of the Central American country said the designation of Guatemala as venue of the important meeting signals the bloc's acknowledgement of the country's advances in the fight against this scourge. It recalls that last year social mobilizations against corruption led to the resignation of President Otto Pérez Molina and Vice President Roxana Baldetti, and the arrest of 600 public officials.
