Madrid, February 22 (RHC)-- Spain's progressive political parties are meeting today to discuss a pact that would allow the formation of a coalition government.

The parties Podemos, Compromís and Izquierda Unida (IU), the United Left, gathered with the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) to agree on a possible deal to facilitate the nomination of Pedro Sanchez.

United Left deputy Alberto Garzón, promoter of the initiative, said the meeting has advanced discussions on forming a clear alternative to the conservative Popular Party (PP) of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and his administration's regressive and corrupt policies.
