Brasilia, May 4 (RHC)-- The Attorney General of Brazil said Eduardo Cunha, the president of the lower chamber and main supporter of the impeachment process against President Dilma Rousseff was one of the leaders in a corruption scandal involving the electrical sector of the country.

Rodrigo Janot told reporters that the legislator belongs to a criminal organization that worked inside the energy state company Furnas, and requested that the Federal Supreme Court open an investigation into the matter.

The document sent to the court indicates that the investigation has the objective to “obtain evidence relating to a criminal organization, specifically about possible illegal practices inside Furnas company.”

The Brazilian attorney general said: "That cell has as one of its leaders the president of the lower house, Eduardo Cunha," from the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party.
