Chicago, January 15 (RHC)-- A Chicago auxiliary bishop is visiting two Cuban dioceses to examine pastoral projects that have received funding from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
In statements to reporters about the trip, Bishop John Manz said that the main goal of this visit to Cuba is to ensure that provided financial support to the different dioceses in Cuba is transmitted smoothly and gets to the beneficiaries promptly.
The U.S. Catholic bishop stressed that the Catholic Church has always believed that engagement, rather than isolation, is the best way to move forward in US relations with the island nation.
“We also want to support the Church in Cuba as it is recognized in civil society for the insights about the human person that it brings to the table,” Manz said.
