Havana, May 20 (RHC-Xinhua)-- Cuba and China have pledged to upgrade their bilateral ties to a new level and enhance cooperation in a variety of areas, especially in fighting corruption.
Zhao Hongzhu, deputy head of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said China is set to significantly enhance ties with Cuba.
The Chinese official is in Havana at the invitation of the Communist Party of Cuba. He held meetings with Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa and with Abelardo Alvarez Gil, a member of the Cuban Communist Party's Secretariat. Zhao Hongzhu also held talks with Cuba's Comptroller General Gladys Bejerano.
China attaches great importance to developing relations with Cuba, Zhao said, adding that China is accompanying Cuba in its development and reform efforts.
