September 18 (RHC/Granma)-- Taking into consideration the severe damage caused by Hurricane Irma, the Cuban government has decided to finance 50 percent of the cost of the construction materials bought by people whose households were affected by the storm.
An official communication released today says local authorities will be inspecting damaged dwellings and approving the sale to owners of the subsidized construction materials needed for repairs.
It notes that to purchase the materials, those affected may request bank credits. Those credits would be issued at low interest rates and long grace periods, says the press release, which adds that in cases of totally destroyed dwellings or roofs, the government will also pay for interest rates set by the bank.
