Havana, February 14 (RHC)-- Intellectuals, politicians, diplomats and solidarity activists attended in Paris, France, the presentation of the book “History Will Absolve Me,” Fidel Castro's defense statement at his trial in 1953 following the attack on the Moncada Garrison.

The book, which was translated into French by Jacques-Francois Bonaldi, includes a series of annexed documents that had not previously been published in France.

The text is crucial to understand the political thinking of Fidel Castro, said representatives with the Tiempo de Cerezas publishing house.

The secretary of the France-Cuba Friendship Association, Dominique Leduc, recalled that during the 1953 trial, Fidel exposed the serious oppression and poverty and many other problems that affected the Cuban people at the time and turned from defendant to prosecutor of the dictatorship that ruled the nation.

During the ceremony, held at the Alejo Carpentier Center at the Cuban embassy in Paris, Ambassador Hector Igarza said that the book is a document with invaluable historic value.
