Havana, November 16 (RHC-ACN)-- The University of Guantanamo is hosting the 1st National Scientific Event 'Fidel Castro's Thought in Contemporary Times.' The event, which runs through tomorrow, Friday, aims to promote scientific exchange among delegates on the life and work of the Cuban leader and his legacy.
The event takes place almost a year after Fidel's death. It gathers more than 150 university professors and students from across Cuba.
The opening day featured a conference by PhD in Social Sciences Rafael Cervantes Martínez, Director of the Department of Marxism and History of the Ministry of Higher Education.
The scientific program also includes seven symposiums whose themes include the influence of José Martí, Ernesto Guevara and Marxism-Leninism on Fidel Castro, as well as the scope of his actions in the international political context.
The debates are focussing on the concept of the Revolution coined by Fidel as the foundation of a prosperous and sustainable socialist society, and the validity of his thinking.
