Havana, February 1 (RHC)-- Cuban Doctor in Sciences Fidel Angel Castro Diaz Balart took his life Thursday. He was 68.
According to a report by National Cuban television, Castro Diaz Balart, the eldest song of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, had been receiving medical attention for severe depression, that kept him hospitalized for several months.
After he was discharged from the hospital -- the report added-- he remained under outpatient follow-up treatment.
At the time of his death he was serving as Scientific Counselor to the Council of State and Vice president of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.
Castro Diaz Balart was a nuclear physicist and during his professional life he received relevant national and international recognitions.
