Havana, February 3 (RHC).- Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, deputy director of the Foreign Relations Department of the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, reiterated Cuba's unwavering support for and solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people.
Marsán Aguilera participated Saturday in a ceremony in Havana, marking the 49th anniversary of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Addressing those present, the Cuban political leader recalled the words of President Raúl Castro at the UN General Assembly, when he said that a just, lasting solution to the Middle East conflict inexorably demands strict respect for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as their capital. “Cuba firmly supports this,” he said.
The Cuban official stressed that Trump's move on Jerusalem and Washington's decision to cut aid to the UN agency responsible for assisting Palestinian refugees, are not isolated events, but steps in a broader imperial strategy orchestrated jointly with Tel Aviv, aimed at exacerbating hatred and confrontations, thus preventing the return of millions of Palestinians to their now illegally occupied land, dividing the Arab world, and hampering efforts toward a just, negotiated solution to the conflict.
