Minister of Energy and Mines of Liberia and Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba discuss bilateral cooperation alternatives

Monrovia, June 15 (RHC)-- The Liberian Minister of Energy and Mines, Gesler E. Murray, received in his office the Charge d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy, Yordenis Despaigne Vera.  On the Cuban side, the Second Secretary, Carmen Maury Toledo, also participated.

The head of the Cuban state mission congratulated the Liberian diplomat, on behalf of his Caribbean counterpart, for his election as head of Energy and Mines.

Despaigne Vera gave updated information on the Cuban projection towards the use of clean and renewable energies, particularly solar and wind energy.

He reiterated Cuba's gratitude for the permanent support to the island in various multilateral forums, in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 50 years.   He also ratified the willingness of the Cuban government to consolidate relations, existing since 1974, diversifying as much as possible the areas of bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Murray, after thanking the Cuban diplomat for his visit, emphasized Cuba's ability to guarantee the training of high-level professionals in key areas such as health and education.

He particularly appreciated the presence of medical professionals who fought Ebola during the epidemic of 2014-2015 and also wished to identify aspects in the energy area where Liberia and Cuba can work together.
