Brasilia, June 26 (RHC)-- The Brazilian newspaper Brasil Popular marked the 32nd anniversary of reestablished diplomatic ties between Brazil and Cuba with an article highlighting the benefits of mutually beneficial cooperation ties.

The paper notes that under the Más Médicos program, implemented in 2013 by the administration of former President Dilma Rousseff, nearly 15 thousand Cuban doctors and nurses have offered their services in Brazil, treating more than 63 million residents in 1058 municipalities and 34 indigenous districts across the South American nation.

It also highlights the training of hundreds of Brazilian health professionals at Havana's Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).

The newspaper terms as exemplary Cuba's cooperation with Brazil in the fields of education, culture and tourism. 

Brasil Popular points to Brazil's decisive contribution, with technology and funds, to the construction of the Mariel port in western Cuba. It stressed that Cuba has already fully reimbursed the Brazilian National Development Bank (Bandes).

The Brazilian dictatorship broke relations with Cuba in 1964.  Bilateral diplomatic ties were reestablished 22 years later, the paper noted, adding that Brazilians and Cubans have much to celebrate in this new era of mutually beneficial relations.
