Matanzas, August 29 (RHC)-- Carilda Oliver, National Literature Award recipient and outstanding Cuban poet, passed away Wednesday morning at 96 years of age at her home in Matanzas province, from which she wrote most of her extensive work.
Author of about 40 books of lyric, epic and erotic poetry, translated into several languages, Oliver lived in Matanzas, the city where she was born on July 6, 1922.
Recognized as one of the most important female voices in contemporary Hispanic American literature, she earned countless awards.
