Havana, October 19 (RHC)-- Cuba's permanent representative to the United Nations, Anayansi Rodríguez, renewed her country's support for the cause of the Palestinian people.
Addressing an open debate of the UN Security Council, the Cuban senior diplomat regretted what she called 'poor progress' achieved on the ground, describing as 'gross' the fact that the UN body has not even condemned the escalation of Israeli violence against the Palestinians nor the tragic events taking place in the Gaza Strip since March 30th last.
Anayansi Rodríguez also condemned the arbitrary decision of the United States to withdraw its financial support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
The Cuban representative at the UN said Cuba rejects categorically Tel Aviv's use of excessive, indiscriminate force against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories of the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, calling it a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international law.
