Santiago de Cuba, November 27 (RHC)-- The country's first five star ultra-modern hotel is set to be built in Santiago de Cuba, as part of efforts to develop tourism in the city.
According to officials, the hotel will have 452 rooms split over two towers, as well as two presidential suites on the top floors.
The facility will also house a convention center, multi-purpose rooms, five restaurants, a snack bar, swimming pool and gymnasium.
Contractors highlighted that the hotel has been designed to withstand earthquakes, which occasionally affect the area; and will feature special windows to deflect the sun's strong rays.
Once completed, the new hotel will be the tallest building in Santiago de Cuba, home to half million inhabitants and important socio-economic works.
