Havana, December 27 (RHC)-- The Cuban Council of State, pursuant to the provisions of the country's Electoral Law of October 29, 1992, and in accordance with the call issued by the National Assembly of People's Power, has appointed the seventeen members of the National Electoral Commission in charge of organizing and conducting the national referendum, set for February 24th, 2019.
In the referendum, the Cuban people will ratify or reject the new Constitution of the Republic, as approved by the National Assembly of People's Power last December 22nd, after a broad process of public consultation in which Cubans significantly enriched the draft text with their proposals for modification, additions and eliminations.
The members of the National Electoral Commission, presided over by Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, will take office on Friday, December 28.
The provincial, municipal, district and special electoral commissions will be appointed and constituted between January 4th and 13th, 2019.
