Havana, February 19 (RHC)-- Cuban lawmakers have signed nationwide petition in support of Venezuelan democracy, and called on parliamentarians around the world to mobilize for peace and against possible U.S. military intervention in the South American nation.
The Cuban parliament’s Commission on International Relations issued a message, urging legislative bodies from all over the world to unite in defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and independence.
The message reads: “It is imperative that peace-loving forces unite in defense of the peoples’ sovereignty, independence and self-determination.”
The text recalls that the South American nation is the target of a ruthless economic, trade, financial and media war, the aim of which is to plunder its vast natural resources.
The message insists that “What’s at stake in Venezuela is the sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean and of all peoples of the South. Also at stake in Venezuela is the prevalence of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.”
Lawmakers call on peers around the world to support Venezuela against U.S. threats
