Santiago de Cuba, March 25 (RHC), - Two people died and 40 were injured in a car accident that occurred Monday in eastern Santiago de Cuba as a bus and a pick-up transporting personnel collided on the road.
Among the injured were a six-month old baby girl, who reportedly is in stable condition, and a 14-year old girl, who is in serious condition, according to Granma newspaper. The rest of the injured are receiving medical attention in local hospitals in Santiago.
Preliminary information release by the traffic police says that the bus driver was responsible for the collision after violating the right of way.
Annual statistics show an increase in car accidents in Cuba, but a fall in the number of deaths and injured in such events.
