Havana, March 23 (RHC) – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Cuba's top diplomat described Trump's position as "a clear violation of the UN resolutions on the issue."
The U.S. president announced Friday that the United States should recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, an area of some 1,800 square kilometers, 1,200 of which are occupied by Tel Aviv, 235 controlled by the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) and the rest under Syrian jurisdiction.
Several countries have criticized Trump's decision while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of course, praised the illegal move.
Russia warned the White House's position could worsen the already tense situation in the Middle East, while France called the measure a violation of international law and Syria described it as irresponsible.
