Havana, March 25 (RHC) – Cuba paid tribute to Julio Antonio Mella, founder of the University Student Federation (FEU) and of the first Marxist-Leninist party in Cuba, on the anniversary of his birth.
Cuban students and youth are honoring Julio's legacy in squares, parks, monuments and other places linked to his short, but intense and fruitful life. These activities will also serve as a chance for Cuba's younger generations to reaffirm their commitment to the Revolution and Mella's, combative and anti-imperialist legacy.
The program of events in honor of Mella, who according to Fidel, "did a great deal in a short time" also features artistic galas and concerts, and the conclusion of activities as part of an annual festival which began January 10, on the 90th anniversary of the murder of Mella in Mexico, at the hands of assassins paid by the dictator Gerardo Machado.
