Moscow, April 24 (RHC)-- The Communist Party of Russia has awarded the Lenin Prize to Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
"The presidency of the party has awarded the Lenin Prize to Raúl Castro, for his outstanding contribution to the dissemination of the ideals of socialism," said Russian Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov, announcing the decision at a meeting of the party leadership, in which he said that "the fraternal people of Cuba are an example for all."
Ivan Melnikov, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia, will travel to Cuba to bestow the recognition to Raul during the festivities of International Workers' Day on May 1st.
