London, May 9 (RHC)-- The Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba (CSC) in the United Kingdom has warned that the implementation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Law represents a very serious intensification of the US blockade against that Caribbean island.
¨This is a very dangerous step in Washington´s aggressive policy, that seeks to discourage companies from other countries that want to invest in Cuba,¨assured CSC director Rob Miller.
According to the director of the organization that brings together friends of Cuba in the U.K., the measure by the Trump Administration is to futher damage the Cuban economy, and cause the greatest possible suffering on its population.
By the implementation of the Title, as of May 2, US citizens can file lawsuits against Cuban and foreign companies that have invested in properties nationalized in Cuba after the triumph of the 1959 Revolution.
Since the adoption of the Helms-Burton Law in 1996, all US leaders, including Trump, had suspended the application of the aforementioned title.
In this regard, Miller welcomed a recent statement by the government of Prime Minister Theresa May denouncing the extraterritorial nature of the measure, and its commitment to protect British companies and businessmen who invest in Cuba.
