Havana, June 28 (RHC)-- Sri Lanka´s Foreign Minister, Vasantha Senanayake, who is on an official visit in Cuba, was received on Thursday by the president of the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of Popular Power, Yolanda Ferrer.
During the fraternal exchange, Ferrer highlighted the strong bonds that characterize relations between the island country in South Asia and the Caribbean island, and briefed the guest on the features of Cuba´s political and electoral systems, the recently approved Constitution and the broad and intense legislative process in which the Cuban lawmakers are immersed., after the recent approval of the Magna Carta.
During his Cuba visit, the Sri Lankan top diplomat also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Marcelino Medina, on cooperation between the Higher Institutes of Foreign Affairs of both nations
Speaking to the press, Minister Senanayake said that his country and Cuba have reached 60 years of friendship, and that the Asian nation is intent on continuing its collaboration and support for the Caribbean island.
