As summer vacations end, recreational options and tranquility prevailed, says President

Havana, August 24 (RHC)-- As the summer vacations in Cuba come to an end, president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez made an assessment of  recreational activities planned for the months of July and August, which went ahead in spite of the economic restrictions that the country has faced.

Diaz-Canel highlighted that there was a variety of recreational options and that citizen tranquility prevailed, and acknowledged the impact that summer camps in educational centers and universities had on young people.  the president said that  Young Communist League estimates that some  42,500 young people from all over the country participated in thoise summer camps.

According to the Presidency's website, the president stressed the role played by the Young Computer Clubs in conneting through them the private networks of natural persons, after a sovereign decision adopted by the government.

Diaz-Canel commented on the revival projects that for some years have been deployed in the provinces, which have opened new spaces for recreation.

Referring to the salary increase, which became effective this summer, he said that thanks to the people's involvement , there has been a control of price hikes and that every time there has been a violation it has been addressed.

Among the problems of the summer period, the president cited the complicated epidemiological situation in several provinces; the interruptions in the collection of solid waste, especially in Havana; and the occurrence of traffic accidents.
