Havana, September 1 (RHC)-- President Miguel Diaz-Canel recognized through a message on twitter the work of those who made it possible for the beginning of the new school year Monday.

“Tomorrow begins the new school year: day of initiation and party. Another goal. Congratulations to those who made it and will make it possible, “he wrote on Twitter.

Almost two million students begin the 2019-2020 school year in Cuba this September 2, a figure slightly higher than the previous school year, according to data provided by the Ministry of Education.

More than one hundred and sixty thousand teachers will be in the classrooms, for 95 percent coverage, and the rest will be completed with the use of alternatives such as hiring by the hour, teacher overload or through other initiatives.

Likewise, Miguel Díaz-CaneL stressed the morale and dignity of Cuban health missions abroad, which cover 164 countries around the world, in the face of those who seek to sabotage and denigrate their commitments and efforts.

In recent months, Cuba has been insistently denouncing the policies and actions undertaken by the Trump Administration to hinder this collaboration, under the fake pretext that the Caribbean island is a 'promoter of human trafficking and slave labor.'

Last Thursday, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing and strongly condemning the most recent aggression in this regard: the implementation of a program of the U.S. International Development Agency. (USAID), 'destined to finance actions and search for information to discredit and sabotage the international cooperation that Cuba provides in the sphere of health in dozens of countries and for the benefit of millions of people', according to the document.
