Belgrade, October 17 (RHC)-- The vice-president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Ana María Mari Machado, condemned Wednesday the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba at the 141st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), underway in Belgrade, Serbia.

Addressing the forum, running from  October 13 through the 17th, Mari Machado stressed that this genocidal policy is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of the Cuban people and the main obstacle to the island´s development.

"In spite of the serious consequences of this failed policy, they have not been able and will never be able to break the resistance of our people. We call on the parliamentarians of the world to reject this policy and to encourage their foreign ministries in supporting the Resolution "Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba," which will be presented again before the General Assembly of the United Nations on November 6,"  she said.
