Havana, November 27 (RHC)-- The first round of migratory conversations between Cuba and Nicaragua is underway in Managua.

The two-day event is winding up on Wednesday and is headed on the Cuban side by  Ana Teresita González Fraga, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, while on the Nicaraguan side, it is led by Iván Lara Palacios, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, and Luis Roberto Cañas Novoa, Deputy Minister of the Interior.

The encounter will develop a mechanism for mutual consultation, dialogue, and cooperation on migration and consular issues based on the willingness of both parties to achieve a regular, orderly, and safe migration flow, as well as confronting phenomena such as trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.

The meeting will negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding on Migratory Matters and another on the Exchange of Migratory Alerts and Security Information between the two nations.
