U.S. COVID-19 patient repatriated from Cuba

Havana, March 20 (RHC)-- A U.S.  patient confirmed with COVID-19 was evacuated this Friday in good general condition, along with his wife, reported Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs.
   
The Cuban Foreign Minister said on Twitter that the process was carried out in response to the request of the U.S. citizen and his family, and official interest of the U.S. Embassy.

Rodríguez Parrila added that Cuban authorities ensured the operation in compliance with the established health protocols.

In a previous tweet, the Cuban Foreign Minister highlighted the effectiveness with which Cuba is facing the Covid-19, as well as the solidity of the Cuban public health system.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, Cuban health authorities had reported 16 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus SARS CoV-2 on the island. COVID-19 is present in 153 countries and has a 4.5 % lethality.
   
In the last 24 hours, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Mexico reported their first fatalities from this disease, declared a pandemic on March 11 by the World Health Organization. It has caused more than 10,000 deaths worldwide.
