Cuba reports 48 new cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours

Havana, April 16 (RHC)-- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 48 new cases of COVID-19, for an total of 862 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night into Thursday morning -- three more patients died from the coronavirus.  There are now a total of 27 who have died from COVID-19 in Cuba.

To date, 171 patients have recovered -- with an additional 20 released from hospitals on Wednesday.
