Madrid, April 20 (RHC)-- Authorities in Andorra expressed their gratitude to Cuba for the help given in the confrontation against COVID-19, with the presence of 39 health professionals in that European country, diplomatic announced in Madrid.
On his Twitter account, the Cuban ambassador to Spain, who is also in the neighboring country, Gustavo Machín, highlighted the meeting held with the island's medical brigade by Andorra's Foreign Minister María Ubach and her health partner, Joan Martínez.
According to the diplomat, during the meeting, Ubach and Martinez reiterated the gratitude of the government and the people of the Principality for the work done by the doctors and nurses of Cuba.
Brigadistas from the Henry Reeve Contingent, with vast experience in disaster situations and serious epidemics around the world, are facing their third week of fighting the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus in the small state of the Pyrenees.
During their stay in the Principality of some 76,000 inhabitants, the Cuban medical brigade received numerous expressions of affection from area residents and a warm welcome from Andorran health workers, with whom they are working together in this crusade.
Andorra, with an area of 468 square kilometers, shares borders with Spain and France, two of the European nations most affected by the deadly epidemic.
In recent weeks, Cuba has sent 21 brigades of aid health workers in some twenty countries to help control COVID-19.
