London, April 22 (RHC)-- Cubans living in the United Kingdom are appealing to the generosity of people to help their fellow Cubans back home build the artificial respirators that they are forbidden to acquire by the U.S. blockade.
According to the organization, the aim of the "crowfunding" campaign is to raise funds to acquire the components that will allow Cuban institutions to build these devices based on the designs that several universities published on the Internet.
Cuba cannot buy new ventilators and it is very difficult to repair broken ones because the companies that previously supplied them were acquired by a U.S. company, explains the call made by the non-profit organization "Cubanos en UK."
The organization says that the money collected will be used to support the construction of the E-Event artificial respirator, whose design was made available to the general public by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT.
