Havana, April 23 (RHC)-- The implementation of the first bioenergy Atlas and also the improvement of the quality of life FOR over 700 families using biogas are the results of the UNDP cooperation in Cuba.
According to a report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the document estimates some potentials for using biodiesel and biogas by rural producers. By virtue of cooperation in this field, T14-00 Form of the Territorial Information and Statistics System was introduced. It allows to update the Atlas in support of decision-making on the renewable energy development sources from biogas, biodiesel, forest biomass and industrial waste.
The use of biogas through bilateral collaboration contributed in 2019 to improving the quality of life of more than 700 families using this energy source. In addition, low-carbon development for the public transportation system in Havana was also promoted in 2019, implementing a brand-new massive urban transport system design of rapid bus transit (BRT).
