Havana, July 15 (RHC)-- The World Council of the José Martí Project of International Solidarity says that the Fifth International Conference for World Balance, which was scheduled for next 2021 in Havana, has been postponed.

According to a note issued by the Council, the new date of the event will be from January 25 to 28, 2022.  The decision is due to the disaster caused by COVID-19, with health, economic and social dimensions.

With the exception of the change in date, the announcement remains in effect and those registered to date have all their rights, although the organizing committee has been asked to include a new item on the agenda -- "Experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic."

The current crisis highlights the "need to work for world balance, international collaboration and solidarity, equity, sustainable development, social justice and peace," says the Council.

The meeting will analyze issues such as multilateralism, education and human rights, and the fight against racial discrimination and gender equality, as well as try to give continuity to the World Congress of Humanities held in 2017 in Liege, Belgium.

For World Balance is held every two years in Havana, in homage to the Cuban, Latin American and universal thinker José Martí, with the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture.
