Paris, July 16 (RHC)-- The Latin American and Caribbean Group - GRULAC - of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), transferred the temporary presidency of the Venezuelan entity to Cuba on Thursday, at an ordinary plenary meeting held in Paris, France.

During the meeting, GRULAC representatives acknowledged and congratulated the work carried out by Venezuela, as president, during the first semester of the year, accompanied by the body's Bureau, also composed of Cuba, as vice-president, and Nicaragua as secretariat, informed the Permanent Mission of Cuba to UNESCO.

According to information published on the Cubaminrex website, upon assuming the presidency, the ambassador and permanent delegate of Cuba to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel, expressed her gratitude to her Venezuelan counterpart, Héctor Constant Rosales, for the work carried out at the head of the Group.

Esquivel reaffirmed that his country will maintain its commitment to regional unity and cohesion to defend and advance common interests and positions within UNESCO.

Cuba will assume the presidency of GRULAC during the second semester of the year, accompanied by Nicaragua, as vice-president, and Panama, as secretariat.
