Guatemala, August 27 (RHC) The Social Intercultural Movement of the People of Ixcan, in the Guatemalan department of Quiche, expressed on Thursday deep gratitude and support for the Cuban Medical Brigade (CMB) that is attending communities that have been forgotten by the Guatemalan State.
Organizations, community authorities, and indigenous leaders joined the expression of solidarity with Cuba's medical collaboration in Guatemala, which is running the risk of being canceled amid a campaign against its humanistic and selfless scope.
In a press statement seen by Prensa Latina news agency, the Movement noted the benefits of having 12 Cuban doctors of different specialties in the municipality, and the impact of programs such as Operation Miracle (free eye surgeries to eradicate cataracts).
The text also acknowledges the opportunity of having nine doctors from the Ixcan people who graduated in Cuba.
