Havana, September 17 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez urged Wednesday to join forces to prevent human trafficking, a phenomenon against which his country maintains zero tolerance.

Rodriguez reiterated the island's position through a message on Twitter.

He also noted that this scourge's transnational nature requires that 'countries of origin, transit, and destination, cooperate and share responsibility' to prevent it.

The head of the Cuban diplomacy also called to work jointly to protect the victims and the prosecution of those responsible, in the context of the 45th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Last July 30, on the World Day against Trafficking, Rodríguez stated that combating this crime requires cooperation and not lists and unilateral reports.

He also maintained that Cuba has an "exemplary performance" in this area, as it was reaffirmed at the beginning of July, during the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, especially women and girls, in the 44th session of the Human Rights Council.
