Cuba reports 62 new cases of COVID-19

Havana, September 26 (RHC)—The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, says Cuba´s molecular laboratories processed 7744 samples on Friday for the detection of COVID-19, and that 62 persons tested positive, and the island already accumulates 5412 since the beginning of the epidemic.

Two people died due to the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and there are 120 fatalitiers.

 Of the 62 cases, Dr. Duran said 58 are Cubans and 4 are foreigners residing on the island. In 9 persons the source of infection could not be determined.

The expert stressed the complex epidemiological situation that remains in the provinces of Havana and Ciego de Avila.

“Twenty-seven cases were from Havana and 22 from Ciego de Avila. These are the provinces where the restriction measures are stiffer, and they are at a different phase of recovery, and people are working very hard to curb the transmission that remains in both territories.”
