New York, October 17 (RHC)-- The new Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, presented his credentials this Saturday, in a ceremony virtuous of the working conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic at the UN headquarters.

Pedroso Cuesta is a graduate of the Higher Institute of International Relations "Raul Roa Garcia" (1987); and Master in National Defense.

The diplomat has been a member of Cuban delegations to different sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, to multiple meetings and international conferences, including the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development and on Small Island Developing States, as well as a wide participation in the negotiations on climate change.

Ambassador Cuesta has also served as Deputy Director of Multilateral Affairs and as Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law at the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

He has served as Cuba's Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme and UN-HABITAT.

At the time of his appointment, he was the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations, with the rank of Ambassador.
