Cuban health professionals  care for the sick in Jamaica

Havana, November 7  (RHC)-- Cuban health professionals provide important assistance in Jamaica, as evidenced by the 7,068 lives saved and the 375,37 cases seen this year.

According to the information provided to Prensa Latina news agency by the Cuban embassy in Kingston, the medical brigade performed 47,685 consultations in October.

The Cuban internationalists managed to save 897 lives during the previous month and carried out 59,630 nursing procedures.

Despite the limitations imposed by the Covid-19, the medical group maintains the work in the operating room with 252 surgeries, including 110 of retinal laser belonging to the Operation Miracle and the benefit of the eye-sight of the Jamaican people.


Amidst the increase in infections, the Cuban medical brigade professionals perform more than 50 percent of the tests to detect Covid-19 (PCR)in Jamaica.

According to the summary corresponding to October, between 150 and 180 Cuban health collaborators are currently working in the red zone with suspicious or confirmed patients with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare of Jamaica reported  9,373 confirmed infections to Covid-19, of which 4,745 have recovered, and 217 people have died.
