Havana, November 19 (RHC)-- Representatives from various Belgian society sectors addressed this Wednesday the consequences of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba in a virtual forum. They condemned that policy and announced a new campaign of solidarity.

The Webinar marked the end of the 'Oxygen for Cuba' initiative, which for seven months offered Belgian citizens an approach to the impact of the blockade from the viewpoint of those on the island who suffer it daily, and the growth  of participation in the European campaign 'Unblock Cuba'.

According to the forum's moderator, Wim Leysens, discussions are underway with members of the solidarity movement in other European countries on the actions of the new campaign,  given the upcoming vote in May at the UN General Assembly on a resolution against the blockade, similar to the ones supported in that body by the international community since 1992.

Leysens told Prensa Latina agency that contacts with MEPs and European Union institutions would be among the initiatives considered.

In the forum that brought together dozens of people in the platform Zoom and the social network Facebook, the leader of the General Labor Federation of Belgium Liège-Huy-Waremme, Geoffrey Goblet, denounced the effects caused by the unilateral measure to workers in Cuba.
