Political Bureau analyzes documents of economic and social impact

Havana, November 24 (RHC)--The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) met Tuesday in Havana to discuss documents related to the country's economic and social life.

In the meeting, presided over by the first secretary of the organization, Army General Raúl Castro, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero presented these documents, which will be submitted for debate at the 8th Congress of the PCC.

The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of the Party's Central Committee member and Minister of the Interior, Vice-Admiral Julio César Gandarilla, who passes away early Tuesday from a prolonged illness.

According to  Granma newspaper, the meeting's agenda included a review of the economy's performance in the  2016-2020 five-year period and a report on the implementation of the guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution.

In addition, participants in the meeting assessed two proposals for updating: the Conceptualization of the Cuban Economic and Social Model of Socialist Development; and the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution for the period 2021-2026.

Recently, the Political Bureau reviewed aspects related to the Ordering Task, associated with eliminating the monetary and exchange duality, the wage and price reform, among other elements of the economy.

The celebration of the VIII Congress of the party organization is scheduled for April 2021.
