Cuba reports 405 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths

Havana, January 16 (RHC)—Cuban health authorities reported 405 new cases of COVID-19 and four fatalities over the last 24 hours . With these results, the island has a cumulative of 17 501 cases and 166 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Dr. Francisco Duran, the island's Chief Epidemiologist, said on national television on Saturday that there were 4 123 positive patients hospitalized— a new daily record number. 

There are 46 patients in the island's intensive care units, 13 in critical and 31 in serious condition.

In the day, the provinces with the most cases were Havana with 171, Santiago de Cuba with 47, Ciego de Avila with 43, and Camagüey with 43.
