Cuban parliamentary commissions analyze progress in the fight against covid and economic regulation

Havana, February 17 (RHC)-- The National Assembly's Standing Commissions on Agrifood, Attention to Children, Youth and Equal Rights for Women; and Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment assessed the fulfillment of the tasks to support the fight against Covid-19 and the follow-up to the Monetary Reform.

Through video conference, the legislators explained the actions developed in their respective territories, as part of the support to the health institutions against the pandemic, according to a note on the legislative body's website.

The deputies referred to the work carried out in the communities to attend to vulnerable people and verify compliance with the sanitary measures and the protocols of action in popular councils, municipalities, and work centers.

The Commissions reported on their participation in the verification of the implementation of the Ordering Task, according to their scope of action, such as verifying the attention received by vulnerable people in need of monetary support and the payment of subsidies in the artistic sector.

The involvement of lawmakers in price monitoring and food production was also raised.

Among the work priorities at present, the deputies follow up on the Economic and Social Strategy, articulated with each agency and sector's objectives, and with the prioritized programs led by the President of the Republic.

Also, they participate in the actions of control of the execution of the State budget, in the assurance of the legal norms that are part of the Legislative Schedule and in the implementation of the Program for the Advancement of Women; in addition to social prevention and the fight against corruption and crime.
