President of Cuba expresses solidarity with St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Havana, April 10 (RHC)—Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel has conveyed his wish to the Vincentian people of a quick end to the current eruption of the volcano La Soufriere.

On Twitter, President Miguel Diaz Canel wrote “To St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to their Prime Minister, friend Ralph Gonsalves and his hardworking people, our solidarity and the greatest wish that the fury the volcano cease

For his part, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on Friday he had called the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, to offer Cuba's collaboration to the extent of its possibilities face of the eruption of the La Soufrière volcano.

"Cuba has collaborated with the Saint Vincent authorities for the early and timely evacuation of our collaborators," he added.

The Foreign Minister added that Cuba would continue monitoring the situation and expressed its solidarity with this brother country.

Since Thursday, the evacuation of nearby populations began, who were transferred to centers and hotels in the neighboring islands of Dominica, Grenada and Antigua.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) expressed on Twitter the willingness of the regional organization to assist the country; and Venezuela also reaffirmed its willingness to help.

Meanwhile, the UN Emergency Technical Team for Barbados and Eastern Caribbean countries met this Friday to address the response to the event.
