Havana, April 19 (RHC)--The members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) were announced today at the closing of the 8th Congress of the organization, headed from this day by President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
In addition to the president, the body members include the head of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo; Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero; and Deputy Prime Minister Roberto Morales.
The heads of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Álvaro López, and of the Interior, Major General Lázaro Álvarez, also make up the structure.
Likewise, the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez; the general secretaries of the Trade Union Federation, Ulises Guilarte; and of the Federation of Cuban Women, Teresa Amarelle, are also part of the Political Bureau.
Other members are the director of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Martha Ayala; the secretary of the Council of Ministers, José Amado Ricardo; the executive president of the Business Administration Group, Luis Alberto Rodríguez.
The first secretary of the PCC in Artemisa (west), Gladys Martínez, is also a member.
Meanwhile, to the Secretariat of the Central Committee belong Roberto Morales, in charge of the internal life of the Party as well as the policy of cadres and Rogelio Polanco, in charge of the ideological sphere.
Joel Keypo will be in charge of the economic activity; José Ramón Monteagudo, the agri-food sector; Feliz Duarte Ortega, the productive sector of goods and services; and Jorge Luis Broche, the social sector.
