Secretaries of Communist Parties of Cuba and China hold phone conversation

 Havana, May 6 (RHC)--The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, held a fruitful and cordial telephone exchange on Thursday with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping.

Both leaders discussed the results of the 8th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, held last April 16-19, and the upcoming celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the CPC.

The Chinse leader, Xi Jinping, congratulated his Cuban counterpart on his election as First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, recognized the historic contributions of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and Cuba's progress in the construction of socialism while stating the high importance and priority he attaches to the development of bilateral ties.

Both parties referred to the historical celebration of the Centennial of the Chinese Communist Party on July 1. They reaffirmed their interest in strengthening the close ties of friendship and cooperation between both peoples, parties, and governments, based on deep historical roots and mutual political trust, which the invaluable legacy of several generations has nurtured.

Havana and Beijing established diplomatic relations on September 28, 1960.

Among other areas, their ties include cooperation in sectors of the economy, trade, health, education, industry, agriculture, telecommunications, science, technology, and biotechnology.
