Havana, July 1 (RHC)—Cuba conveyed its condolences to the relatives of the victims of the partially collapsed building in Surfside, Florida.

On Twitter, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla wrote "Our condolences to the families of the victims of the Champlain Towers collapse. We have yet to receive a response to the official request for information from our Consulate, but public sources anticipate unfortunate information about Cubans who have died or are missing. We remain attentive."

At least 18 people are dead, and 145 others remain unaccounted for after the 12-story residential building partially collapsed in South Florida's Miami-Dade County.

The partial collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium in the small, beachside town of Surfside, about  10 kilometers (6 miles)  north of Miami Beach, took place around 1:15 a.m. local time Thursday.

A massive rescue effort had been continuing around the clock at the site through stifling heat and frequent rainstorms.
