Matanzas, July 14 (RHC)--The Antonio Guiteras power plant in Matanzas, the largest and most efficient among its counterpart in Cuba, successfully synchronized with the National Electric System (SEN) on Tuesday evening.
Misdel Palmero Aguilar, general director of the plant, explained that after 17 days of uninterrupted work, to which specialized forces from Havana, Mayabeque and Matanzas contributed, complex actions that usually take no less than a month were carried out with certified quality.
Along with the reestablishment of the main beam that supports the boiler and the casting of refractory material on the floor of its furnace, to correct the breakdown that caused the interruption, complimentary maintenance was carried out on valves, motors and other areas of the plant to make the most of the time, he confirmed.
The return of this power plant to service with its contribution of some 300 megawatts is expected to relieve the power outages reported on the island in the last few weeks.
